Welcome to another edition of screen rambles, where, as the name suggests, I’ll ramble about the things I watch in the previous month. I didn’t watch a lot of things in May, but one show really got me obsessed. The rest of the things I watch are also pretty statisfying, except for Riverdale.
Friends With Benefits
I can’t believe I never saw this before! I never been a chickflick person so this year, I try to fix that. I’ve watched some of them this year, but Friends With Benefits is definitely becoming one of my all time favorite. It’s funny, it’s fun, it’s also cringy. Also, young Justin Timberlake! His voice was so cute ahaha. He also has an amazing chemistry with Mila Kunis. And I really love Mila’s character there! Friends to lovers is one of my favorite trope, so the premise of the movie lure me in and they executed it very well. Also the soundtrack? They are also amazing. GAH basically this movie is just perfect!
Well… not really. I’ve never been really comfortable with sex scenes, in books or screen, and this movie has a lot of them…. a lot of cringy and hilarious sex. I don’t really know how I feel about them… at one side I feel uncomfortable but it’s also funny??

Do I recommend it: Yesss! It will definitely be one of my pick-me-up movies.
Da Vinci’s Demons
My definition of May. It was all started by a coincidence; I was switching through the channel when I saw the re-run of the series and decided to “give it a try”. Being the history and political scheme junkie I am, I was hooked after the first episode. Watched the entire series in a week, even though it’s almost finals.
It might’ve been confusing at first with all the Italian names, families, and states, but since I already know the basic of the Medici before watching, I was sucked into the story immediately. I love the political scheme going on within the Italian states, especially Florence vs Vatican, and tbh, I don’t really care about the Sons of Mithras here. I am all for political game. I don’t really like Da Vinci (he’s not exactly nice to his friends and keep going back to Lucrezia Donati), but I love his relationship with Lorenzo and eventually, Riario. I also love how deeply complex and layered each character involved in the power struggle is, they are like a sort of pawn in a game, yet they have their own intentions and constantly messing up the game.
I’m so pissed with how it ended though. Da Vinci is finally (spoilers!) free of Lucrezia, mother, sons of mithras, and other obligations; he’s having a good relationship with Riario while have to mend his with Lorenzo; Dark! Riario; Vanessa being in charge; the gang being back to Florence… I want to know more! Hopefully a channel will pick this series up, revived it, and give it the ending it deserved.

Do I recommend it? YES x1000
Anastasia
Another must watch movie I just watched for the first time. I’ve heard Once Upon A December before, but hearing it in the movie really adds my love for the song! Also, I didn’t know this is about the Romanovs! I have a soft spot for them (basically, I think every monarch executed at revolution since I also have soft spot for Antoinette) and I really like how the movie tells about the legend surrounding the Romanovs. The animation is also very magical, and of course, how can we forgot about Bartok? So cute! I only have minor complaints that it felt a liiiitle bit too long and the ending just wasn’t what I expected. I mean, (spoilers!) Anastasia could’ve chose to be with her grandmother and Dmitri. The monarchy is gone and it’s not like Anastasia there to reclaim the throne, so why couldn’t she have both? Also, yes, she will always have her grandmother, but she’s old and she could die anytime… But maybe it’s just me.

Do I recommend it? Yes. It’s magical, funny, and about the Romanovs. Definitely having a rewatch.
Riverdale
Riverdale is one of the most hyped up show of late 2016-2017, so I decided to give it a try. I ended up feeling dissapointed. I love the cinematography and the mystery really intrigued me, but I feel very detached from the characters and don’t really care what happened with them. But then again, I never really clicked with highschool set tv show, I prefer legal/crime kind of tv show. I stopped at episode 4. I may continue in the future, but for now… nope.

Do I recommend it? Um, no. But like I said, I never been BFFs with teen tv show, so maybe it’s just me.
I love Friends with Benefits! And I haven’t checked out Riverdale yet but I was kinda wanting to since I was such an Archie comics fans as a teen. I’m sorry it didn’t work for you. 😦
