Welcome to my monthly something-about-movies-or-show post. Usually I do a screen rambles, but since I barely watched anything in July (except for Spiderman: Homecoming, you can read my review here) I decided to do this post.
There are so many tv shows in this world. And when I say TV show, I do not just limiting it to western TV show. I mean anime and k-show too. There are so many popular shows that my to-watch list has at least 25 shows there, and it will keep growing. But not all shows work for me and it saddens me because I want to join the hype! I want to understand!
But alas, I did not. So here are some popular shows that don’t work for me. If you see your fave here, that doesn’t meant that I’m attacking it. It’s more of “it’s not you, it’s me” case.
Riverdale
To be fair, I’ve never really like teen or high-school set tv show. I don’t know why, but I just never interested with western high school setting show. Maybe because most of these shows deal with non-school related drama?😂 The cinematography in Riverdale is A+++ and I’m also interested in who kills Jason, but I feel… bored. Nothing happens until episode 4 and I wasn’t invested in any of the characters, so I didn’t continue.
Yuri on Ice
*gasp*
I know, I know. I was actually pretty addicted to this show at first. I watched the first 6 (or 7?) episodes at once. But then I stopped and when I tried to continue I just wasn’t feeling it. The animation is so detailed, Yuri and Viktor are so cute, and I love how it breaks the whole masculinity value, so I don’t know what went wrong. I will give it another try eventually, but for now….. sorry.
Goblin
I have 2 episodes left from this show but I decided not to continue. Why you asked?
I love the humor and the cinematography. I swear this show is so aesthetically pleasing😍The characters are also incredibly complex and layered, but the age gap creeps me! I read a lot of vampire books but none of the love interest actually called the vampire “ahjussi”. The plot also bores me and there’s something about the special effect that just annoys me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the relationship between Goblin and Grim Reaper, they are definitely the best part of this show. However, in the end, I just don’t feel it worth wasting another 2+ hour to see how this show ends while I wasn’t invested with the characters.
Dexter
I love crime tv series. But for some reason that I don’t even know myself, Dexter just doesn’t work for me. It couldn’t grab my attention even though it offers a fresh new perspective- I mean, a police/serial killer??? Since I gave up early in the series, I can’t talk much about it, so there’s that.
Sleepy Hollow
I love this story and I love the Tim Burton’s movie! Which is why when the tv show was announced, I watched the first season religiously. Unfortunately, I stopped at season 2 because the story seems to go all over the place at that point?? It’s just not what I signed up for, so I quit.
The first season of Sleepy Hollow was great, but the show totally went downhill after that. The most recent season was set in DC and could have been awesome, but was cringe-worthy. I barely watched it, more just for background noise!

Ahh thank God I didn’t continue then!

I agree Riverdale had a slow start, but half way through the series it picks up! The last couple of episodes were super intense with a lot going on and a few secrets being revealed.

Ooh should I continue then? I’d love to give it another chance because the hype is real 😅

I like Riverdale, but there are tons of popular shows that did not work for me: Goodfellas, Game of Thrones, Shameless, Girls, there’s just a ton that I have no desire to watch.

Ahh game of thrones 😦 It’s definitely my favorite but I can understand why it’s not for everyone!

I actually love Riverdale, but that’s maybe because I like whodunits in general. As for popular shows that don’t work for me, Game of Thrones is the first one that pops to mind. I’ve seen one episode of it, and I don’t have any interest in watching more of it. I’ve also never been quite sold on BBC’s Sherlock. I like it, but I prefer Elementary.

Ahh yes the first episode (more like the first season) are very hard to get through. I love Sherlock, so I definitely have to check out Elementary. I’ve heard so much about it!

I like Riverdale…sort of? hahah I think I’m in the same boat as you in that I just want to know whodunit and why lol I LOVED Dexter though. That is one of my favorite shows – but the ending of the series is…meh.

Ohh no!!!! I’m so sad that you didn’t like Yuri on Ice! I hope you have better look on your second try! Though, to be completely honest, my love for YOI has faded a bit…. It isn’t really the best show for rewatch binging in my opinions because the constant repetition of skating routines can get old pretty quick. Sorry if I’m bugging you, but have you had the time to watch Voltron yet?

I’ve only tried Sleepy Hollow out of all these shows which was a HUGE disappointment. I only managed to watch like, 2 or 3 episodes? And have no desire whatsoever to continue, even though, like you, I absolutely looove the movie.
Honestly, I’m the worst tv-show watcher, I give up on shows pretty easily. *hides* Vampire Diaries, The 100 and Pretty Little are/were three super-popular ones that I gave up on. I really enjoyed all these at the beginning, but then got so bored and angry with the characters that I just couldn’t continue. Tbh, I usually give up on shows aimed at teens, because the drama gets worse with each season.
I think this is my first time on your blog, but I really love it and your posts are fab. ❤

I feel like this a LOT with popular shows! I just could not get into Stranger Things. I might try again, but… I was so bored. I tried with The Office, but nope. And then there’s all the shows that I just never feel like watching… it’s sad!

The only two of these I’ve watched are Yuri on Ice and Dexter. I’ve only seen the first couple episodes of Yuri, but I definitely plan to keep watching. And I was obsessed with Dexter for a while, but I never watched the final season!
