12 Days of Blogmas // Day 7: Backlist I Want to Read in 2018

It’s day 7 of blogmas!

And if I post blogmas every single day starting tomorrow, by christmas I will make it! All 12 days of blogmas!!!

But anyway, in this seventh day, we are going to talk about backlist books I want to read in 2018 and BOY I HAVE A LOT. I usually read backlist books anyway but for some reason, instead of shrinking, the list just keeps going! So grab some popcorns, we are going to be here for a while.

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

And also Isla and the Happily Ever After. I really enjoyed Anna but never continue the series and I just want to finish the series in 2018. I’m really in the mood for some fluffy romance!

Lady Renegades by Rachel Hawkins

I heard a lot of things about the third book of this series. Basically a lot of people said this series went downhill. And while I really enjoyed Rebel Belle, I feel a bit meh with Miss Mayhem. It loses the fun vibe Rebel Belle had, but I still have hope for this series because who knows, it might be a case of second-book syndrome.

Daughters of the Nile by Stephanie Dray

Another series I want to finish. I love mythology and history, and this book combine the best of them! The story is about Cleopatra Selene, daughter of the infamous Cleopatra and what happened after Egypt was taken by Rome. This is the final book in the series and I can’t wait to see how her story will end!

The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler

AKA one of the highly anticipated release I never got to. Now that I actually have a copy of it, I don’t have any reason to put it off anymore. I’m really excited for this modern retelling of The Little Mermaid! I’ve heard amazing things about Ockler’s books, so I have complete faith in her writing and story.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

I’ve heard amazing things about this series! I’m done with dystopian but tbh this book seems more paranormal-steampunk rather than dystopian for me, it also seems dark and full of action. I’m really curious about this one.

Half Bad by Sally Green

A guy who’s an illegitimate son of a notorious wizard being caged and wanted out? Sign me up! It’s been a while since I read anything with wizard/witches with it, and I also have been hearing amazing things about this series. Now that all books are out and I have the first book, it’s time for me to start it.

Defy by Sara B. Larson

Funny story: I actually found this book by accident. I was actually looking for the Graceling by Cashore but found this. And while I still want to read The Graceling, I’m glad for the mistakes too because this book sounds soo good? This book is like Kiss of Betrayal, except that this book came out first and the MC has some sort of ~secrets~.

Any backlist books you want to read in 2018?

  2. Hi there!
I don’t do blacklists or the likes anymore because I’m still reading on the 2015 blacklist – I’m really way behind… it’s useless, so I stopped doing it.
Daughters of the Nile by Stephanie Dray sounds very interesting. I never heard of the author or that series, but I love mythology stuff, so I’ll have to check this out!

  3. I haven’t been in the mood for fluffy romance stories, but if I do happen to get into one in the future, Lola and the Boy Next Door is definitely a book I would pick up as well 😋
