February Wrap Up & March TBR

MONTHLY wrap up

So um… I don’t know whether you noticed or not, but I kinda dissapeared this month… I am usually here on my little corner of internet, commenting or replying to comments, or schedule upcoming post, but this month, I just got distracted I guess. I haven’t been reading a lot either, as you can see with my wrap up below. I don’t know what happened but it feels good to be back!

  1. THE WITCH SEA by Sarah Diemer // ✰✰✰
  2. NEVER FADE by Alexandra Bracken // DNF
  3. THE LOST PATH by Amelie Flechais // ✰✰✰
  4. THE WITCH DOESN’T BURN IN THIS ONE by Amanda Lovelace // ✰✰✰✰✰

So as you can see, I only managed to finish 3 books, one novella, one poetry and one graphic novel, as well as DNF-ed one book. I guess Never Fade really put me in a reading slump… I should’ve DNF it sooner 😒 I didn’t even get to read Harry Potter this month! 😒 I tried to read 813 but I got distracted. I ended up not enjoying The Summer of Chasing Mermaids as much as I thought I was, and while I initially enjoyed The Darkest Part of the Forest, Hazel started to get on my nerves! My favorite of the unfinished list is The Princess Bride, but I can’t find the motivation to finish it.

Lesson learned: I need to DNF books as soon as possible.

  1. TESS OF THE ROAD by Rachel Hartman
  4. THE SUMMER OF CHASING MERMAIDS by Sarah Ockler (60%)
  5. 813 by Maurice LeBlanc (10%)
  6. THE DARKEST PART OF THE FOREST by Holly Black (37%)
  7. THE PRINCESS BRIDE by William Goldman (63%)

Basically finish what I’m currently reading and then read Tess because it’s for review. I am also not sure I can finish 2 HP books in a month, but oh well. A girl has to catch up.

Hmmm let see… other than being distracted and sort of dissapear? February has been a weird month. Chinese New Year happened, which was filled with family gatherings, amazing chinese food, and lots of stories 🍲 And then Black Panther happened, which is totally amazing! I admit I was a bit underwhelmed at first because I expected it to be an action packed movie, as the teaser trailer suggest, but the movie took its time exploring Wakanda and its politics. Yet, the more I think about it, the more I fell in love with it. I love how the movie functions as a wake up call and political jab towards current state of the world, and the impact it made to black community!

On the less relevant note… I went bowling for the first time and it was SO MUCH FUN! I mean… I sucked at it, I only got 41, but I had so much fun and laughed a lot with my friends. Not to mention the late-night dinner/gossip session we had afterwards. It’s probably my new favorite way to hangout with friends!

Other than that? Hm, February hasn’t been a very interesting month.

  1. Slumps are annoying but sometimes you need to get into one to really get back into something you love- like blogging and reading, lol. I’m glad you’re back , though, and glad to see you enjoyed The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One! Hope you have a way better month this time around <33

  2. Lovely wrap-up post! I’ll make sure to check out the blog posts you’ve mentioned because they seem very interesting! Yay for supporting other bloggers! ❤
I'm glad you enjoyed The Witch Doesn't Burn in this One, I gave it three stars, but it was still a great book! ❤
    Happy reading this month!

  3. Happy (belated) Chinese New Year, and I’m so glad you loved Black Panther despite the initial lack of action! I can’t believe you’ve never gone bowling haha, and it’s awesome that it was a hit! I always have a fun time (especially since I go only once in a while) since it’s not very competitive.

  4. Thanks so much for mentioning my post! 🙂
I hate reading slumps so much, so I hope you manage to get through yours soon. You’ve got some great books lined up for this month though (any month with Harry Potter in is a good month!), so hopefully they will get you back in the reading mood. That’s how I’ve always broken out of reading slumps: I’ve started reading something that immediately gripped me!
    Have a great March! 🙂

  5. I’m sorry that February wasn’t the best reading month, but hey, sometimes it feels good to take a little break, too, from reading, blogging and everything else 🙂
I suuuuck at bowling as well, you did a great score here hahaha 🙂
I hope you will have a lovely March!! x

  6. Ugh, I’m sorry your February wasn’t the best reading wise. 😐 Honestly, you made me really worry about Never Fade haha, I read The Darkest Minds a long time ago, and I’m planning on continuing the series this year, summer the latest. Going to head over to your DNF-review after wrapping up this comment. Honestly, I hated The Summer of Chasing Mermaids, and put it down pretty early on. I WAS SO EXCITED FOR IT, THOUGH!! I mean, everyone was raving about it around the time I picked it up, and I was convinced I would love it, too. Alas, I found it boring and plain. I am massively excited for Black Panther, and will hopefully be seeing it next week. Hope your March will be better than your February was.

  7. Aw, hey, someone else who doesn’t love the Darkest Minds trilogy! I feel like everyone else loves it but me. 😂 Which sucks because the covers are really nice but WHAT CAN YOU DO?

I absolutely loved Black Panther; it was so great! I think I’m really starting to like movies and shows that talk about politics and such. And bowling is so much fun! I haven’t gone in a while though. 😅

  8. Agh to reading slumps! I hope the books you’re reading this March are better and more fun. 😀 And omg I want to see Black Panther so much…I’m so glad it’s been so empowering to a lot of people too, that’s just epic! I basically blogged waaay less this month too.😂And I’m always offended at how short February is. Like c’mon. Give us those extra days.

  9. Aww I‘m sorry Never Fade put you in a reading slump, I hate when that happens 😦 hopefully you‘ll read loads of amazing books in March and they better be 5 star reads only 😛 you March TBR does sound promising and I can‘t wait to hear your thoughts on Tess on the Road!

  10. I’m so glad you had a fun Chinese New Year! Sadly, all my family from my Chinese side live across the globe, so no big family gatherings for me… but it still was nice to celebrate the lunar new year knowing that millions of people were doing the same across the world 😊 Wishing you a wonderful month of March!

  11. Thanks for mentioning my post! 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Good luck with all your reading goals for March!! Ooh, the Goblet of Fire is one of my favorite Harry Potters. Also, The Princess Bride is a book?! I thought it was just a movie- I need to read that!!

  12. Happy (belated) Chinese New Year! Hope you read more wonderful books that will become your favourite books in March. I myself read 3 books that I rated 5-stars, it’s such a huge surprise but so amazing. 813 looks like a book I’ll love, but I saw that it’s part of a series. Did you enjoy the previous books of the series?

  13. Wow, thank you including my blog in your post! I’m super honored 🙂

I hope you can finish reading The Princess Bride! It’s been on my TBR forever, but I keep putting it off because I’m so afraid of not loving it as much as I want to!
