July Wrap Up & August TBR // Getting older (but not wiser) and puppies???

MONTHLY wrap up

I know it’s super cliche to start off a wrap up post by questioning how fast time flies, but really, how is it almost August already???

July has been a rollercoaster of emotions for me, but looking back, it’s definitely one of the happy months. I also managed to read a lot this month and watched a lot of things, while getting things done, so there’s that. Without further ado, let’s see how was July for me!

  1. KISS OF THE ROYAL by Lindsey Duga {ARC} // ✰✰✰✰
  2. THE GLOAMING by Kristy Logan {ARC} // ✰✰✰
  3. CLARA VOYANT by Rachelle Delaney {ARC} // ✰✰✰✰
  4. STRANGE THE DREAMER by Laini Taylor // ✰✰✰.8
  5. SCREAM AND SCREAM AGAIN! by R.L Stine {ARC} // ✰✰
  6. OKAMI by Renee Ahdieh {novella} // ✰✰✰✰
  7. YUMI by Renee Ahdieh {novella} // ✰✰✰✰
  8. SEA WITCH by Sarah Henning {ARC} // ✰✰✰✰✰ – Review to come!
  9. THE WICKED + DIVINE Vol 1: FAUST ACT by Kieron Gillen // ✰✰✰

  1. SMOKE IN THE SUN by Renee Ahdieh
  2. SUMMER DAYS AND SUMMER NIGHTS by Stephanie Perkins

I’m currently in the middle of reading 3 different books: INTERMISSION by Serena Chase, SIMON VS HOMO SAPIENS AGENDA by Becky Abertalli, and BOTTLED GOODS by Sophie Van Llewyn. So I’ll have 5 books on my TBR next month, and will probably adds a couple ARCs there as the month goes.

July proved to be a more surprising and busier month than I thought. For starters: I got a puppy!

I guess it’s been a long time coming, my mom has been talking about getting a puppy a lot and been asking here and there about adopting, but I never thought she was serious. There were some close calls but they didn’t happen. For my part, I’d love to have a puppy, but I hate to think about what happen if I lose it*. So yeah, imagine my surprise when on Sunday, July 22nd, when I came home from church with my dad and sister, the puppy is already home. His name is Pedro, he’s 6 months old and he’s a miniature poodle. I instantly fell in love with him, but I didn’t expect the first night to be as hard as it was.

*It’s the shitty thing my mind always do whenever I’m doing/meeting someone new, I always think about what happen if I lose them. What happen if we graduate? What happen if we break up? What’s next? How do I move forward? Which sucks because I want to enjoy the moment instead of worrying about things that will happen in the future and outside my control.

The thing is, our bedrooms are Pedro-free zone, so he can’t sleep with us. If you have a dog, you might remember that your puppy whines and bark all night when left alone. And it was heartbreaking. And hard to ignore, all I want to do is took him to bed with me. So I ended up not sleeping at all and got sick for the next two days.

I also had a mini freakout on top of that because a) I’m turning 20 and I’M IN DENIAL 😭 and b) I can’t believe I have only 2 years left of university. I am both excited and terrified for my future and while I have a kind of game plan, life rarely goes according to plan and IT’S TERRIFYING. So the last 2 weeks of the month have been very happy but sad too, and it was very exhausting emotionally.

You also noticed that I changed the section banners for this wrap up. I just realized I made the new banners a few months back together when I revamped the design, but forgot to use it 😅 Not much change except I think it fits more with my current blog layout hehe.

I post less this month, and definitely not as much as I planned for pottermonth. Idk, I just hit with a slump at the beginning of the month and the schedule just went awry, so I decided to not posting at all.

How was July for you?

  1. Omg a PUPPY!! * melts * I’ve always wanted a pet! Also your tbr is a bit similar to mine – I’m currently reading Smoke in the Sun! I’ll admit the beginning is a bit underwhelming..but I enjoyed the first book and the prose is of course beautiful so I’m hoping I’ll fall in love with it by the time I finished reading.

  2. You read so much in July! And congratulations on adding Pedro to your family. Puppies are the cutest ❤ It sounds like you had a good month. I hope you enjoyed celebrating your 20th birthday. And don't worry, you aren't too old yet 😉

  3. Congrats on having such a productive month & reading so many books, Tasya! ❤

I'm so excited to see that Sea Witch was amazing for you, now I'm definitely a lot more excited about it. I can't wait to hear what you think of China Rich Girlfriend! I hope you love it.

    Happy August! ❤

  4. Puppy! Lots to cuddle. Photos please of cutie Pedro? 😀
Ah yes hitting the mid point of the college years and then what will you do? Graduation is inching closer and can I do this? Totally get that feeling. ❤ But hey, it will get better. And once probably back at college you'll probably be too busy to worry about it. which is win-lose situation haha.

  5. Ahhh, how could you mention a new puppy without sharing photos??? I love dogs with all of my heart. My dog is a 13 year old beagle. He’s an old man but he still has the energy of a puppy. Happy almost birthday, by the way! I know it’s scary, I can’t believe that I recently turned 18. Times flies by so quickly. I mean, I’m starting college this month. Also, your new section banners are adorable!

  6. PUPPPPY!!! I’m so excited for you!! (And totally understand the anxiety of losing someone/something. That sucks, but it’s definitely an understandable reaction!) But omg I can’t imagine not having my dog sleep with me in my room haha. When I first got him (SO little) he just cried and cried all night until I quit and let him into bed with me. 😂 Now it is his bed. I am possibly the worst. But oh well.😂 (ALSO DO WE GET PUPPY PHOTOS?!??) Mine is a schnauzer x poodle!

And eep, yay for reading a lot of things and having an exciting upcoming TBR! I’m really keen for Sea Witch! I need to get onto that one soon too. 😀

  7. Puppies!!! New puppies are SO hard! I had six years between my last dog and my newest one and the first couple months were awful. I’d completely forgotten! I hope it gets easier soon! I hope you enjoy your upcoming reads!

  8. Oh it seems like you had a great reading month, that’s fantastic! I hope that August will be just as good 😀
A PUPPY ahhhh that’s so great. I’m going to want some pictures now hahaha 🙂
Don’t worry too much about turning 20, you’re still young and have plenty of time to figure things out, you can do this, you’re doing amazing! ❤
    I hope you'll have a fantastic August! ❤

  9. July was great for me, I went on vacation and read plenty of books throughout the month. I’ve been really interested in Crazy Rich Asians, do you recommend reading it on audiobook instead of physical book? Also, pictures of your puppy please!! ❤
