Can you believe we’re already in the last stretch of 2018???
Because I can’t. I’m not ready for my final university year, and I’m definitely not ready for what’s coming after. I know I still have a year left but thinking about these things really gives me the sleepless nights. Which is super counter productive when you have tons of reports, assignments, and drafts to write.
But before I get to the woe part of my life business, as usual, let’s get on with the books!
- THE GOOD DEMON by Jimmy Cajoleas {ARC} // ✰✰
- THE CREEPY CASE FILES OF MARGO MALOO: THE MONSTER MALL {ARC} // ✰✰✰✰
- THE FORGOTTEN GUIDE TO HAPPINESS by Sophie Jenkins {ARC} // ✰
- TRAVELLING THROUGH THE DARK by Emma Timpany {ARC} // ✰✰
- DAMSEL by Eleana K. Arnold {ARC} // unrated
- THE NEXT FIVE PEOPLE YOU MEET IN HEAVEN by Mitch Albom {ARC} // ✰✰✰✰✰ – review to come
Other than books on the list above, I’m currently reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, as well as The Phantom Tree by Nicola Cornick {ARC}.
- TINDER by Sally Gardner
- IF WE WERE VILLAINS by M.L Rio
- THE ACCIDENTAL AFTERLIFE OF THOMAS MARSDEN by Emma Trevayne
- THE MERCILESS by Danielle Vega
- THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY by Oscar Wilde
They are all my tbr for Halloween this month. I guess I still have a couple books to read, but they are more of a contingency plan in case I’ve finished all books before October ends. And I’m finally, finally, going to read The Merciless this year. As soon as that calendar turns 01 October, I’m starting that book.
- Trang @ Bookidote recommends some books for non-readers.
- Sam @ We Live and Breathe Books discussed about reading books where we are not the target audience.
- Beth @ Reading Every Night shares some of her favorite tropes and why she loves them.
- This is an article from June that I totally forgot to put, but it tells the important story of Terry Crews and how the response around him is a proof of our toxic masculine culture.
- Cait @ Paper Fury shares 10 signs that tell her she won’t enjoy a book
- Dani @ Perspective of A Writer imagined Sam Winchester as a girl (Samantha!!!) and now I’m on a fanfiction hunt.
- Elizabeth @ Redgal Musings laments the lack of YA books set in university, and some ideas to make Goodreads better.
- Pamela @ Reverie Society questions whether it’s better to have an animation or live action movie adaptation?
- Veronika @ The Regal Critiques asked an important question: do we judged female characters harsher than male?
- Hollie @ Hollie Blog discussed why negative reviews are important.
- May @ Forever and Everly hosted the 5 star readathon, where you read your predicted 5 stars books in a week. There are 5 challenges, but I plan to read 3 books only- it’s such a fun idea and I’m excited!
September hasn’t been very kind for me. I know I’ve been saying this for the past few months, but this month really takes the cake for me. I was both present and not on the blog: I opened wordpress, have tons of drafts waiting to be completed and posted (even scheduled!!!), but I couldn’t find the will and ideas so I blog hopped instead. Even sometimes during blog hopping I couldn’t find the ideas to comment and it made me realize how burned out I was. I took a step back and barely opened wordpress for a while, then spent last weekend playing catch up with tons of blog 😅 I guess it was better than forcing myself though. So if you guys were wondering where was I and what happened with my schedule: I was here, but the schedule went totally out of the window.
It might be because I wasn’t adjusted well with the schedule of this term yet. The schedule was pretty relaxed: I have mondays and fridays afternoon off, but the days in-between are jam-packed with classes and labs. There are a lot of quizzes, reports, and presentations need to be done, I guess I was overwhelmed because iSN’T thIS tERm sUPposED tO Be CAlM?????
Not to mentioned the fact that I was involved with some events outside of the uni, as part of my effort branching out to the community. This really messed up my time management as I already underestimated my work load and now I have to go back and forth between venues. Not that I’m complaining: I really enjoyed the people and views of Jakarta at night! But I won’t deny that I was e x h a u s t e d.
It’s not all bad though! I got sucked into Victoria, which starts Jenna Louise Coleman. It’s not my favorite, but it wasn’t bad either and I can’t wait to see what will happen next! My favorite movie I watched this month is definitely Our Times, which is a Taiwanese movie. I don’t usually watch romance, especially Asian ones, but this one really get me crying! It’s not a sad movie, but if you love Love, Rosie, you will absolutely love this movie.
There are also some amazing music I’ve discovered this month: I’ve been listening a lot to Sunmi’s Heroine and Siren, and OhGG’s Lil Touch! At first, I wasn’t fond of the latter but it really grew on me!
And of course, this post wouldn’t be complete and truly mine if I don’t mention Pedro. I went to a pet expo this month and bought some stuff for him (food and toys) and I’m happy to report that he LOVES them all! His fur continues to grow and now he resembles a little lamb more than anything. I’m thinking of smuggling him into my uni halloween event as part of my costume, but I’m pretty sure that’s a disaster waiting to happen 😂 I’d love to dress up as Cruella De Vil (Pedro as dalmantian), Mulan (Pedro as Mushu) or even Heidi (Pedro as a little lamb)! 😂

It sure is tough when you don’t really have enough time for everything you’re doing Tasya. Cause school has to come first. Good luck with everything! I’m sure Pedro makes life so much easier to deal with, he’s such a cutie. ❤ Merciless looks perfect for Halloween!! Oh, and thank you so much for sharing that Samantha post! It's so fun to consider a change in sex. 😀

I hope you’re able to find a balance between blogging & uni soon! I can relate to your experience, because September was a rough month for me too — I thought I had gotten my school schedule under control during August, but September just threw a complete curveball at me 😊 I hope you have a wonderful month of October tho!
