October will probably be a busy month for me so I actually plan to stay away from all the readathons. Yet when I saw this SPN themed readathon, I couldn’t resist! It seems like such a perfect time to join, especially since this season will be its final one.
It's here!!! Supernatural-athon running 1-31 October 👻
I know this show has been going on for too long and I’m actually one of those people that’s like “it’s time to end”. But now that’s it’s actually happening, I don’t think I’m reading to let it go 😭 This is the first western TV show in my memory that I watched and scared me to death, and I spent YEARS trying to find out the title of this show from my memory before I actually found it. And when I rewatch it, I find myself still love it as much as I did! So yeah, Supernatural plays an important part in my childhood and will hold a special place in my heart.
This readathon is created by Steph Loves and it has 10 prompts (which you can see here). The prompts are all based on iconic quotes by the characters, so they are super coo! I probably won’t get to all of them but just in case I read more than expected, I’m listing all my TBRs for the prompts here!
*I’m going to list everything except for Lucifer – favorite villain- because it’s really hard to find a book with a villain I love unless it’s a reread (in which I can always reread Vicious but I would rather find something that surprises me).
** This list will be updated and the completed prompts will be crossed as I read books, along with footnotes if I change my TBR
Dean – Ghost School by Kiyomi Ogawa
This is a really old manga series about Japanese urban legend that I have since my childhood. I love this series so much because this is one of those rare stories that scared me so bad I couldn’t sleep! I’ve reread it a couple of times and it still terrified me. It’s been a while since I revisit it though, so this is the perfect occasion!
Sam – Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
I’ve hear a lot of great things about this book, so I can’t wait to give it a try! Plus it has a lot of my favorite tropes, so I think it’s going to be a new favorite!
Cas – The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding by Alexandra Bracken
I honestly don’t know whether this book has a sassy sidekick, but I think a demon would make one right? If Alastor is not sassy, I can always turn to The Tyrant’s Tomb because all the characters there is just sassy 😁
*I ended up reading the Retribution of Mara Dyer and I forgot how much I enjoyed Jamie’s sass! Therefore, TRoMD fills this prompt.
Bobby – The Tyrant’s Tomb by Rick Riordan
The Olympians won’t win the family of the year, but they are still one. And in this story, I guess Apollo reflects a lot on his godhood and experience of family. Furthermore, the found family dynamics of the seven + nico and reyna is something I really want to revisit!
*I just read Small Spaces by Katherine Arden and decided to use it for this prompts as the family dynamics is a central theme of the story. I just think it fits better for the prompt.
Crowley – The Devil’s Apprentice by Kenneth B. Anderson
I feel really bad because I have this eARC for a while now, but I’ve been really busy and want to save it for halloween season. Another book with a good promise of shenanigans, how can I refuse??
#Also fullfill for
Death – Read a book about Death/featuring Death
Jody – The Athena Protocol by Shamim Sarif
A book about an all-female intelligence agency will be filled with strong female characters, right? I actually already finished this one and it’s a good one!
This also fulfills the prompt for
Charlie – LGBTQIA+ book.
Rowena – Steadfast by Claudia Gray
I initially want to use The Wicked Deep for this prompt but I realize I need to finish the series before I forgot what happened in the first book and have to reread it again 😅
Death – A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore
I can’t seem to stay away from book that promises fun times, and this one is one of them! I feel like it will make a good comedy series: imagine a normal suburban guy is suddenly recruited to be Death himself! 😂
*I decided to use The Devil’s Apprentice to fill this prompt too as it has death as a character and it plays quite an important part in the plot!
Are you joining any readathon this month? What are the books you really want to read this month?
