Hi everyone and happy new year!!! 🥳
Life has been getting better, but I’ve been really busy lately in a way that I love. I know I have been really inactive, but hopefully I can pop in a bit to post some end/beginning of the year posts because those are my favorite types of post 😆 You know, the yearly wrap up, top reads, anticipated reads… the whole package.
Anyways, the first post of the series is about 2023 releases. However, since I have been really absent I barely keep up with the upcoming releases so I just decided to listed 2023 books based on their covers that really caught my eyes. I really love the recent illustrated style with vibrant strokes and colors. I don’t really like people on covers (especially photographed ones in 2000s or 2010s but it has been working really well with current illustration trends! I’m really bad with describing books though so please bear with me or feel free to click on the links for the synopsis 😄
Without further ado, here are 8 of my favorite covers from 2023 book releases!
We’re starting off strong with THE LAST TALE OF THE FLOWER BRIDE by Roshani Chokshi! I love the author’s writing, coupled with the gothic setting and happy marriage with dark secrets, this book sounds like it’s going to be a favorite of 2023!
The cover and the synopsis sounds AMAZING! THE BLCK QUEEN reminds me of Ace of Spades meets Carrie, with so called “tradition” and homecoming events, minus the supernatural. I can’t wait to read this one!
Set in New Orleans, BLOOD DEBTS have all the elements to become THE book of 2023. Our main characters are estranged twins who have to fight together to stop the curse that threatens their powerful family. It’s been a while since I read any books set in New Orleans so I’m really excited for this one!
Anything that sets in Singapore already has 70% chance of being added to my TBR. Add to that the plot of rich people getting swindled? 100% in! THE FRAUD SQUAD is coming out really soon in January, so add this on your TBR!
This one sounds ADORABLE, and the cover reflects that 💗 It has rich/middle class romance and mooncake festival setting, which makes me really looking forward for their “getting to know each other” phase since it seems going to be so full of warmth and family shenanigans!
It’s been a while since I read anything school setting that doesn’t have any murders or thrillers going around, and the cover for SOMETHING MORE immediately caught my attention with its warmth. Telling the story of Jessie who got diagnosed right before her first year of high school, I’m looking forward for her journey in navigating her school life and romances!
I still haven’t read Priory of the Orange Tree so I purposely know nothing about A DAY OF FALLEN NIGHT (I think it’s the prequel), but that cover! 😍 It just looks so epic and I love the different shades of blue used here.
Another book I added because of the cover! SONG OF SILVER, FLAME LIKE NIGHT has that xianxia feels for me from the dragon & the title placement. And based on the early reviews, it seems like the cover really reflects the book so I am adding this to my TBR. I’m really curious of the world building and the plot progression.

OH I love your choices so much, such stunning covers! I’m so intrigued by that first book, the last tale of the flower bride, and so in love with that cover!
Ah ok the two dragon ones were already on my list but I am now gonna have to add Something More to my list because the cover and the synopsis sounds like something I’d enjoy!
I have read Priory and I CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on Fallen Night!
